"Simplicity and repose are the qualities that measure the true value of any work of art." -Frank Lloyd Wright

If you have not been by LeMoyne to see the Art by Architects and the Bau Wow Haus architecture, please try to get by there. If was inspirational to see the talent from our local architects, although it was no surprise. The work will be on display until April 30th.

A big thank you to the Strategic Task Force, Mary Jo Spector, Ivan Johnson and Ann Kozeliski, Art Director at LeMoyne for all their creativity, hard work and coordination to make this event possible.
We will be having a 50/50 raffle to raise money and awareness about Florida Architects' Political Action Committee (FAPAC). We will start selling tickets at our next meeting and will be sold through July.

:: SUMMARY / UPDATE ::

DINNER BY DESIGN
“Dinner by Design”: A Networking Dinner Event
This unique networking event took place this month. It is designed to promote comradery amongst our members of the local AIA Tallahassee chapter.
The next one will be held this summer.
HOT TOPICS
Thank you AIA Florida for putting this event on. There were approximately 35 people who attended and the workshops were very informative.
MASTERPIECE PRESENTATION
The film by Michael Minor on the works of Frank Lloyd Wright was quite good. The film was a magnificent journey thru eight of Frank Lloyd Wright’s finest buildings.
Besides producing the films, Michael Minor is also working on the Frank Lloyd Wright Revival Initiative and its efforts to re-build Frank Lloyd Wright demolished structures on their original sites. Some of the proceeds will go to assist that effort.
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
One of the legislative issues we monitored affecting members during the 2018 Florida legislative session was the statute of repose HB 875. The bill, recently signed into law, specifies that warranty or punch list items do not extend the 10-year statute of repose.  Due to the efforts of AIA, the legislation further defines completion of contract. And, if sued during the waning days of the 10-year window, architects and other professionals are guaranteed the time (up to one-year) to file a counter or cross-chain. The legislation passed and was signed by Governor Scott, taking effect on July 1, 2018.
2018 CANDIDATES FOR FLORIDA OFFICE
Our own Patrick E. Hoy and JJ Scott have been nominated to run for office on the statewide AIA Board of Directors.  Pat, who is presently Vice President, is running for President and JJ, who is presently serving as Secretary/Treasurer is running for Vice President. Thank you both for your continuing involvement.
ALLIED MEMBERSHIP
I want to take this opportunity to thank the following companies for being our Chapter allied members.  We certainly appreciate your support.
